On a dry-ish and cloudy day I ran the Park Loop Extra Anticlockwise (5.66km) with my old running buddy John, which was a refreshing change.

5.83km Thorn/Pewterspear Combination Anticlockwise Loop

Cricket Ground, London Road, Stretton (5.3km into the run)

Preamble:

Basically it rained heavily all morning, then at 1:30pm just as I was about to begin my run it stopped raining for the first time that day, some clouds moved aside revealing some blue sky and the sun shone down. Timing is everything! It was quite windy in places but it was now very pleasant indeed. There were plenty of very large ankle deep puddles along the way.

Thorn/Pewterspear Combination Anticlockwise Loop (5.83km):

I ran the Thorn/Pewterspear Combination Anticlockwise Loop. This is basically the Thorn Loop whereby where the Park Loop route merges, you continue along the remaining Park Loop - that is until you exit the Old Pewterspear Garden track where you instead run along London Road, turning left at the Cat & Lion lights along Stretton Road finishing at the bus stop immediately before the School. Total distance as recorded by my NavMan was 5.83km.

See Photo Gallery: http://www.pewterspeargreentrust.org.uk/gallery/index.php

The Stats:

5.83km (3.62m) in a time of 25:40, giving an average speed of 13.629kmh (8.468mph) and an average pace of 4:24 per km (7:05 per mile). HRavg 164, HRmax 169, and 402kcals.

Monday 10 April 2006

5.66km Park Loop Extra (Anticlockwise)

On a dry and cloudy day I ran the Park Loop Extra (Anticlockwise) again.

5.66km (3.52m) in a time of 25:57, giving an average speed of 13.087kmh (8.132mph) and an average pace of 4:35 per km (7:23 per mile). HRavg 160, HRmax 165, and 390kcals.

Totals for Week Ending Sunday 9th April 2006

Six very different exercise sessions this week, burning 2,921kcals (plus an unmeasured brisk 25 minute walk).

Total combined training run distance of 23.32km (14.49m), HRmax 176, burning 1,661kcals.

Summary

Not too bad considering that I was unable to do any exercise on Monday and only the brisk walk on Tuesday. Made up for these two lost days with longer runs on both Wednesday and Thursday. The Friday run was also longer than the usual 4.45km too.

Northern Premier League, Premier Divison:
Leek Town FC 1 - 1 Farsley Celtic FC

One hour and twenty-five minutes before the match it began to rain very heavily. The pitch went from being very firm to very wet, muddy, and slippy. The pitch also began to retain water.

The showers stopped for five minutes, allowing for a pitch inspecection. It was wet and muddy but playable. We went back in. It rained heavily again with some hail mixed in. The game went ahead in the same weather conditions all through the first half of the match.

Warm up: 10:38, HRavg 122, HRmax 167, 101kcals.

5.66km Park Loop Extra (Anticlockwise)

On a dry and slightly windy day with tight leg muscles and generally feeling tired from the previous two days effort, I ran the Park Loop Extra (Anticlockwise).

5.66km (3.52m) in a time of 26:42, giving an average speed of 12.719kmh (7.903mph) and an average pace of 4:43 per km (7:36 per mile). HRavg 162, HRmax 169, and 401kcals.

Route Start: Stretton St. Matthew's C of E Primary School, Stretton Road, Stretton, Warrington, Cheshire.

Park Loop, but instead of continuing on towards the Roman Statue and the Church, turn right towards the top of the Park path near to the Pewterspear Road and then back down the Park path where you began your run (but in the opposite direction). At the metal swing gate, turn right onto Stretton Road, continuing until you reach Stretton St. Matthew's C of E Primary School once again.

The route was exactly the same as posted yesterday.

Wednesday 5 April 2006

8.83km Thorn/Pewterspear/Park Loop Combination

Cat & Lion Stretton (5.5km into the run)

Today, on a nice sunny day, I ran the Thorn Loop/Pewterspear Combination plus the Park Loop Medium (Variation) Clockwise totalling a distance of 8.83km (as recorded by my NavMan R300).

8.83km (5.49m) in a time of 40:44, giving an average speed of 13.007kmh (8.082mph) and an average pace of 4:37 per km (7:25 per mile). HRavg 162, HRmax 176, and 630kcals.

Route Start: Stretton St. Matthew's C of E Primary School, Stretton Road, Stretton, Warrington, Cheshire.

Head along Stretton Road toward Appleton Thorn for 2.0km, turning left into Lumbrook Road just before the Thorn Public House. Turn immediately left again into Green Lane that will convert to a track then a footpath at the gate, before finally converting back to a track once again.

After approximately 1.3km at the intersection with Mentmore Gardens, turn left towards Longwood Road. At the T-Junction with Longwood Road turn left, and then at the following Roadabout turn right and continue along Longwood Road.

Continue along Longwood Road until you reach the Pewterspear Gardens Path on your right. You should have covered approximately an additional 0.5km since exiting Green Lane.

Head down the Pewterspear Garden Path for approximately 0.8km. At its exit, take the left fork that will bring you out at the London Road roundabout where Longwood Road joins it.

At the roundabout turn left onto London Road and continue until you reach the Cat & Lion traffic lights, turning left into Stretton Road. Just before the Church turn left heading along a Park path. At this point you would have covered 5.7km in total.

Continue along this Park path passing a Roman statue where the path branches right then quickly left again. Continue again along this Park path, crossing the minor Pewterspear Green Road and continuing ahead along this Park path until its end where you meet up with Longwood Road again where it meets the London Road roundabout.

At this point, turn right along Longwood Road heading away from the London Road. Head straight on at the first roundabout, then left at the next roundabout continuing along Longwood Road.

At the Pewterspear Garden Path, turn right away from it across the road and down the small (usually muddy) path opposite. At the end of the small path, turn right down Cann Lane.

Just around the first bend, there is a Park path to your right. Take this path. Go over the small wooden bridge that brings you out at Stoneacre Gardens, turn left then immediately right, then almost immediately left again to rejoin the Park Path. Go through the wooden swing gate, across the Pewterspear Green road and through the other wooden swing gate. Turn immediately left after this swing gate following this Park path around the right-hand bend and virtually straight on afterwards to its conclusion (approximately a distance of 1.2km).

At the end of this Park Path, there is a smaller metal swing gate that you must go through. Turn right back onto Stretton Road. Continue for another 250 metres until you reach Stretton St. Matthew's C of E Primary School where you originally started the run. At this point the run is complete. You will have covered a total distance of 8.83km (5.49m).

I suppose a brisk walk is better than doing nothing at all...

As predicted, today's seminar prevented me going for yet another run!

We were only allowed 30 minutes instead of the usual 60 minutes lunchbreak - not long enough for a run that. So, I went for a brisk 25 minute walk instead around the local park near to where I work.

I suppose a brisk walk is better than doing nothing at all...

Opening Blog

This blog is intended to record my personal daily fitness records.

The data recorded will be distances that I have run (with route name wherever applicable), recorded time, average speed, average pace, HRavg (Average Heart Rate), HRmax (Maximum Heart Rate), and kcals burned etc.

Other fitness activities other than running shall be recorded as appropriate.

I shall also record my Assistant Referee and Referee appointments (the reason why I train - other than to maintain my own personal fitness of course!), along with time on the field of play, HRavg, HRmax, and kcals burned.

Supply League: Mid-Cheshire Football League (Division One) - Referee
Contributory League: The Football Association - Assistant Referee

My training buddy (John) also has a training blog of his own: http://easyrun.blogspot.com
